Juliette did not sign up for a marathon and then look for a cause. She visited Ol Pejeta on one of our Immersive Conservation Experiences in 2024, left with a deep respect for the rangers who protect some of Africa’s most endangered wildlife, and the London Marathon followed.
We are delighted to share that Juliette completed all 26.2 miles in a remarkable 3 hours and 19 minutes, and raising an incredible $9,500 for Ol Pejeta in the process. Every donation goes directly to supporting conservation at Ol Pejeta.
We caught up with her ahead of race day to find out what drove her to take it on.
Tell us about your fundraiser.
I am running on behalf of the rangers at Ol Pejeta, the people who protect some of Africa’s most endangered wildlife every single day. I just want to do something that puts a spotlight on them and the work they do.
How did you first get involved with Ol Pejeta?
It was my first time in East Africa and I genuinely had no idea what I was walking into. I came away with a completely different understanding of conservation and a real love for the Kenyans who made me feel so welcome.
You actually ran with the rangers while you were there?
Rangers would pick me up at first light and we would run 10 to 15km through the bush together, dodging rhinos and elephants. I turned up in brand new trainers; half of them were outrunning me in slides without breaking a sweat. Later, I watched some of those same rangers compete in the Wildlife Ranger Challenge, running over 21km carrying 20kg of kit. That puts a 26-mile road race into perspective pretty quickly.
Where does the money go?
Donations support the wide range of conservation work at Ol Pejeta, from ranger salaries and equipment to community projects. The conservancy reached eight consecutive years without a single poaching incident in 2025, which tells you everything about what this team is capable of when properly supported.
