The Safari Cottages are nestled in amongst towering yellow bark acacia trees, deep in the heart of Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s Southern wilderness area. They enjoy uninterrupted views across a peaceful river valley to the plains beyond. Each cottage can comfortably house four adults with space for two more children sharing and aim to offer guests a private escape in a ‘home away from home’ bush environment. They also come complete with a full compliment of staff including private chef, housekeeper, waiter, groundskeeper and night askari’s (guards).
Each cottage contains two bedrooms that can accommodate twin or double beds with space for a third child’s bed. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with shower, washbasin and a separate toilet room. The lounge boasts a large fireplace and comfortable sofas. The fire will be lit for you each evening when you return home from your game drive so that you can relax in a warm, homely environment before dinner is served. In the evening the dining table (which can seat up to six people) will be set and the chef will provide you with a variety of scrumptious dishes. All rooms open out onto an enormous verandah complete with outdoor seating and steps down to the extensive lawn area where you can enjoy an al fresco meal and an open campfire under the stars in the evenings. Power and lighting is solar in keeping with the cottages’ environmentally friendly ethos.
The cottages are currently available on a self drive basis only and, as we are located in the wilderness area, a four-wheel drive vehicle is essential. If you would like to arrange game viewing activities this can be done through Ol Pejeta’s tourism office. These include night drives, bush walks, lion tracking, visits to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Endangered Species Enclosure where the rare northern white rhinos are located.
