Rain at the"wrong" time!

Why is it that the weather almost always conspires to do the opposite of what you want or expect?  Now pouring with rain with lots more expected, all at a time when we have enough grass for the cattle and wildlife, and we are desperately trying to harvest our wheat crop - an essential contributor to our diversified land use system, especially now when cash-flows are traditionally poor!  Testing times again!

Other than that things are really quiet at the moment; it is amazing how healthy wildlife and healthy cattle require very little upkeep and looking after.  So much so that our daily "OB" reports now inevitably open with the phrase "Notable incidences: none"

We did however sight a beautiful serval cat with her young yesterday evening, sitting on the road probably trying to get out of the wet dripping grass.  Other than that the bush-babies living in my roof appear not to have been outside for at least 48 hours judging by the all night scrabbling and scratching that goes on, and we now have 2 crowned cranes living in the garden, a sure sign that the place is turning into a marsh!
