Morani Information Centre Renovated
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy recently celebrated the official opening of its newly redesigned Morani Information Centre. The information centre, located adjacent to the 200-acre enclosure that is home to Morani our tame black rhino, aims to provide an interesting educational experience to all visitors. It houses displays about the fauna and flora and our work to conserve the endangered black rhino. The displays are designed to provide comprehensive information about how a modern wildlife conservancy works and include exhibits that show how we have developed an integrated livestock/wildlife system and how our presence continues to benefit neighboring communities. In particular visitors are encouraged to “touch and feel” and the exhibits are designed to be as interactive as possible.
If you are planning a visit to Ol Pejeta, you will now be able to enjoy a much more educational information center. Of course, the highlight of your visit will be your time with friendly Morani, who is a must-see for all of our guests. Born in 1974, Morani was brought to Ol Pejeta after his mother was killed by poachers in The Amboseli National Park. He has won the hearts of many with his rare friendly nature. While Morani is Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s only tame black rhino, the conservancy is East Africa’s largest Black Rhino Sanctuary, being home to 78 individuals.
