Come Visit the New Kicheche Laikipia Camp on the Ol Pejeta Conservancy!

January 28, 2009

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is happy to announce the opening of the new Kicheche Laikipia Camp. The camp was inaugurated in December 2008.

Kicheche Laikipia Camp, located right in the centre of the Conservancy, consists of six luxurious tents, and overlooks a watering hole which offers visitors spectacular views of a vast range of wildlife from the comfort of their veranda chairs. The tents are custom designed and are fully insect-proof with en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers. A spacious, well-furnished lounge gives guests an alternative relaxing atmosphere. Meals are served in the dining tent or alfresco when the weather permits.

Kicheche offers a selection of game-viewing activities including Day Game Drives, Night Game Drives, Interpretative Game Walks and visits to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary where guests observe the two chimpanzee groups and learn about the perils facing chimpanzees in the wild. Guests can also join the Conservancy’s field team in the Lion Tracking Programme which monitors lions in the Conservancy. The programme involves tracking the lions using a portable satellite dish (some lions are collared with receivers) and remitting the data to the Ecological Monitoring Department. In addition, the Wildlife Educational Centre offers an interesting educative experience for both children and adults alike.

Kicheche is currently offering an exciting introductory “3 Nights for the Price of 2” offer that runs throughout 2009! For details of this, see Kicheche’s Special Offers Page on their website, www.kicheche.com.
