Eco Warrior Award for Ol Pejeta ConservancyOl Pejeta was awarded title of Private Conservancy of the Year in the 6th Edition of Ecotourism Kenya’s Eco Warrior ceremony on 16th November 2012 at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

The Eco Warrior Awards aim to celebrate ecotourism best practices and recognize efforts, innovations and exceptional achievements in enhancing responsible tourism and sustainability in Kenya. “Ol Pejeta clearly demonstrates elements of responsible, respectful and sustainable tourism and is the obvious choice for the Private Conservancy of the Year award” said Ecotourism Kenya CEO, Kahindi Lekalhaile, during the award ceremony.

Ol Pejeta’s entry was based on its innovative model of wildlife-livestock integration which maximizes the productivity of the land while allowing the Conservancy to support community projects from profits earned. By supporting community projects, Ol Pejeta not only addresses the issue of human-wildlife conflict but also ensures local communities find conservation meaningful.

“We are greatly honored to receive the award of Private Conservancy of the Year from Ecotourism Kenya. This prestigious award is in recognition of efforts in sustaining wildlife populations while contributing to the general welfare of the surrounding communities. We continue to innovate and evolve, adapting to the changing tourism landscape, so that we can remain at the forefront of industry growth and success." commented Ol Pejeta’s CEO Richard Vigne.

The Private Conservancy of the Year award came barely a month after Ol Pejeta won a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award. These accolades are a true testament to Ol Pejeta’s high standards in tourism, wildlife management and community development.
