Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is pleased to announce the launch of the Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate – 1,000 acres adjoining the Conservancy near our eastern corner. For the first time in Kenya, buyers can own one of only 100 unique homes with access to a world-renowned wildlife conservancy.

Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate is a unique approach to country living, with exquisitely designed houses for sale set within a secure, well managed wildlife estate. This development is designed to be eco-friendly and generate funds through sales proceeds and entrance fees to enable Ol Pejeta to achieve its goals both for wildlife conservation and in serving local communities.

This is a great project for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and an innovative way for us to develop an alternative revenue stream for the Conservancy. It will allow us to build a reserve account that will be used to sustain and expand Ol Pejeta’s wildlife and community development programmes, especially when tourism revenues are low. This is a win-win situation for the Conservancy, the wildlife and our surrounding communities” said Richard Vigne, Ol Pejeta’s CEO.

The Wildlife Estate will be utilized as secure breeding and protection area for endangered species - Jackson’s hartebeest, Grevy’s zebra and Beisa oryx.  In the safety of the Wildlife Estate, free of predators, precious breeding populations can be built-up and eventually used to re-stock suitable habitat in the wider Ol Pejeta Conservancy and elsewhere in Kenya.

Designed by one of Kenya’s leading architects, the spacious houses are clustered around waterholes and salt licks with sweeping views of Mount Kenya, the Loldaiga Hills and the Aberdare mountain ranges.  Residents will be able to walk, jog or cycle around 9 km of paths leading through the unfenced savannah and herds of plains game.
